Maths Stars 3 is a workbook which assists learners in developing the correct use of the language of Mathematics. Mathematical language includes concepts such as time, position, distance, money, speed and measurement and space. The workbook incorporates these concepts into fun, structured activities to facilitate learning. There is also a strong emphasis on mental maths problems, including bonds, number patterns and number sentences.

Included are several assessment tasks which allow educators to determine and monitor sufficient grasp of concepts and also for learners to revise what they have covered.

Educators are encouraged to allow learners to make use of concrete learning apparatus in assisting them to work through Maths Stars 3 successfully – play money, calendar, analogue wall clock, building blocks, dice, counters, number lines, flash cards, 3D shapes and mathematical games.

The contents of Maths Stars 3 is compliant with the requirements of the Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS) of the Department of Education.
