The Reading with Understanding Series comprises four workbooks. It covers a wide variety of topics where learners are required to read with understanding, answer simple questions and follow simple instructions to complete the given illustrations.
As teachers are fully aware most initial readers expose learners to factual, fantasy or informative language and children are seldom personally involved. We feel that by working through these books learners will come to realize that reading is an interaction between themselves and the printed word and not just a passive activity.
From page 59 to the end of the book there are open exercises. We recommend you involve your learners to help the whole class give instructions thereby make your own reading with understanding activities.
