Stepping Stones is a comprehensive school readiness programme spanning the year immediately prior to Grade 1 (Sub A). It is designed to prepare the young child intellectually and emotionally for the transition from the informal home or nursery school environment to the classroom. This is achieved by enabling him to develop the skills, concepts and self-confidence he will need to cope successfully with the crucial first years of primary school. In this way, the programme helps to prevent learning problems from occurring at a later stage and sets the child firmly in the direction of a happy and fulfilling school career.
